April, May Students-of-the-Month Announced

The senior students of the month April were Jazlynn Bender and Kirby Normil. These students were recognized for excellent leadership skills in the community.

Normil is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gesner Normil of Blandon. Kerby’s future plans are to enter the workforce. Normil has been involved in Special Olympics and the junior prom court, for which he won prince. Also, Kirby supports his community by dedicating his time working at Goodwill and his church. Kerby really admires his brothers. Kirby states that Alex and Billy Normil are very supportive brothers, and he loves spending time with them.

Jazlynn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bender of Blandon. Bender’s future plans include attending LaSalle University, where she will look to obtain a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Bender has been involved in the following clubs/activities at Fleetwood Area High School: cheerleading, theatre society, Student Council, chorus, and National Honor Society. Also, Bender has dedicated herself to the community by being actively involved in volunteering throughout the community, acting as a Mini-THON participant, and donating blood regularly at local blood drives. One person Bender really admires is her mother. Bender states her mother is the most generous and thoughtful person she knows.

The senior students of the month for May were Benjamin Shucker and Aubree Kilp.

Ben is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Schucker of Fleetwood. His future plans are to enter the workforce as a landscaper. He has been involved in the following clubs at Fleetwood Area High School: Special Olympics, basketball (as a manager and player), and the P.A.L. program. Also, he supports his community by dedicating his time to volunteer work and job skills. Schucker really admires his Uncle Jeff. Schucker states that his uncle is fun, and he loves being around him.

Aubree is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Kilp of Blandon. Kilp’s future plans include attending Clemson University, where she plans in majoring in Microbiology with a concentration in Biomedicine and a minor in music, with the long-term goal of attending medical school. Kilp has been involved in the following clubs/activities at Fleetwood Area High School: Student Council, National Honor Society, Mock Trial, Artifact, Relay for Life, theatrical society, Choraliers, and Women’s Chorus. Also, Kilp has dedicated herself to the community by being actively involved as a pastoral assistant and Liturgy Leader at her church, a blood donor, and a volunteer at the Greater Berks Food Bank. One person Kilp really admires is her sister. Kilp states her sister works hard to reach her goals and doesn’t let the daily struggles of life keep her from achieving her dreams. Her sister is also extremely kind and is always willing to help someone upset or in need.
