Nine members of the FAHS FBLA are attending nationals this year. The nine members competing will be Jenna Masenheimer in Computer Applications; Caitlin Bower, Brooke Gorman, and Faith Readinger in Community Service Project; Sarah Crissman, Maddy Burt, and Leah DeWald in American Enterprise Project; and Sebastian Kukielka and Laura Kaskey in Public Service Announcement.

According to business teacher Kelly Ackerman, all of the FBLA members that are going to attend nationals this year were not only devoted to succeeding, but they also worked hard because they wanted to win. They also spent hours working to perfect their events and presentations.

“For those that are interested in receiving recognition through FBLA, I would first encourage them to join the organization.  Any junior or senior that has taken two business classes is eligible to apply for the honor society, and it is an easy application process.  For those wishing to make it to nationals in the future, it is about selecting the right event and practicing or studying to prepare. Nationals will be held in the following locations in the future:  2019 – San Antonio, TX; 2020 – Salt Lake City, UT; 2021 – Anaheim, CA,” Ackerman said.

The six students who were inducted into National Business Honor Society were Laura Kaskey, Nicole Hipp, Benjamin Haas, Sarah Crissman, Brooke Gorman, and Alicia Stitzel.

For students who are interested in qualifying for NBHS, students must have a 3.5 GPA and take two business classes.

“NBHS students have taken a variety of business classes and strive for academic achievement.  They are also active members in FBLA and show a level of commitment to the organization,” Ackerman said.
