Throughout October and November, art teacher Ms. Diane Chisdak and the art department of the Fleetwood Area School District will host their very first alumni art show. Chisdak created the art show through social media. Many of her past students took interest and sent in their work.

Thirty-two artists are represented, and roughly 70 items are displayed.

“The Art Show represents the mixture of art careers and other ways that the alumni have used art in conjunction with whatever career they choose,” Chisdak said.

Not only do past students have artwork in the show, but there is also a section for all art teachers K-12.

“This is the first year, so I was very unsure of the response I would get.  It was originally sent out for the art teacher community and alumni, but I mainly focused on alumni,” Chisdak said.

The artwork is currently being displayed in the boardroom in the High School. Over the course of Homecoming week, Chisdak had her first showing. She had the chance to reconnect with students that she had not seen in a while. On 16 October, there was another showing from 4-7 p.m. Any dates after that are to be announced.

The alumni date back to the class of 1991. Many of the people who have their artwork displayed are parents of current students at Fleetwood. The art show not only focuses just on paintings and drawings but expands to many different types of media, such as 2D art, 3D art, digital pieces from animators, and sculptures.
