Fleetwood Area High School recently presented this year´s musical, a rendition of  The Addams Family, on March 18, 19, and 20.

The Addams Family is about a family of unique individuals who move into a neighborhood where people do not respond kindly to their sense of individualism.

¨This musical is unlike other shows we have performed. The script has such a punch, especially for the times we live in today,¨ Mrs. Elaine Hilbert, art teacher at Fleetwood Area High School and one of the supervisors for the Drama Department, said.

All cast and crew members have put in continuous efforts to prepare for the show. This includes staying after school for practices, helping design and create the sets, and altering costumes for the show.

Katrina Fink, a senior at Fleetwood Area High school, played an ancestor in the ensemble and helped make costumes. Fink describes the show as lively and entertaining to watch.

While it is too late to join in on the musical this year, the Drama Department welcomes new members to participate next year.

¨People should absolutely participate in the musical next year! It is an awesome place to meet new friends. You don’t have to be the best singer/actor/dancer ever to perform in the show. And, if being on stage isn’t for you, helping design/build the set, working in stage crew (lights, sound, set moving), helping with costumes, hair, and makeup, are all things you can do to participate in our show!¨ junior Frankie Snyder said.

Snyder is the Drama Club president and was cast as Alice Beineke in the musical.

¨Life skills are so important, and theatre is the type of experience that reinforces skills that transcend into real-life opportunities.  I wish more students realized there is more to theatre than just acting, dancing and singing–so much more,¨ Hilbert said.

The Addams Family spreads a message of love and inclusivity that is reflected by its cast members.
