The Texas baseball team is ranked number one in the country as of March 17, 2022. Their record is 14-5, only losing one series, and they have a .737 win percentage.

The Texas Longhorns have a home record of 6-1, an away record of 6-3, and a natural record of 2-1. They haven’t played anyone in their conference, and it’s going to stay that way until they play Texas Tech on March 12, 2022.

The Longhorns lost last year in the semifinals of the College World Series to Mississippi State on a walk-off, and the players are out to get their revenge and make it to the World Series this year and win.

“I think there’s a little excitement in the locker room. We’re definitely hungry from last year. Obviously, we returned a lot of guys, so everyone kind of knows the taste of getting that close and not getting there. I think everyone wants to get back there and really go all the way this time,” starting pitcher Pete Hanson said.

With the longHorns building up their arsenal with great players from across America, this year could be their year to win it all.

“There was never any wavering from that. And so, when we talk about process with a player, the day-to-day process versus the result, we’ve been going through that for the last five-and-a-half years of the process to get to this point. So there are no more expectations that anybody can tell us about what we need to do or how we should be doing things. We’ve gone through it, and now you get pretty close to the pinnacle,” David Pierce said.

David Pierce took over the Longhorns after Augie Garrido retired as one of the best Texas ever had on their coaching staff, after winning five College World Series. The hope is that Pierce can do even more with the team that he built up over the last few years.
