The Champions League knockout stages are on, and there were some surprises, some domination, and full of excitement.
The most exciting game was PSG vs Real Madrid. This was the most hyped-up match and lived up to the hype. The first game was dominated by PSG but couldn´t really show that with the score, as they only won 1-0. But the second game had it all with PSG taking the early lead and Real Madrid clawing back to win 3-2 on aggregate.
The next game was Manchester City vs. Sporting CP. Manchester’s performance was pure domination from start to finish in the two legs, and no one was surprised. City ran every part of this game and ended up winning 5-0 on aggregate.
Another game was Ajax vs. Benfica. This game was a very good game, going to the very end. The quality of this game was particularly close and was one of the best games in the round of 16. The score was 2-3 in the end, and Benfica moved on.
Athletico Madrid vs. Manchester United had all the elements to be an amazing game. This game did not end up living up to the hype. It was slow and just didn’t end up having the storyline people thought. This game ended up being 2-1 over the two legs and Athletico moved into the next round.
Villarreal and Juventus were a big surprise to many. Villarreal was not expected to win but ended up winning 4-1, destroying Juventus.
Bayern Munich vs. Red Bull was supposed to be all about Bayern, but Red bull gave them a run for their money in the first leg, tying 1-1. In the second leg, it was not even a game; Bayern won 7-1, moving on after that match.
Chelsea and Lille was the next game, and Chelsea didn’t dominate this game but won with ease. Chelsea won 4-2 and moved into the next round.
The last game of the round of sixteen was Liverpool vs Inter. Liverpool just got through this game, not playing their best but getting the job done, winning 2-1 over the two legs.
