Previously serving as an English teacher in the state of Arizona and at Pottstown Middle School, as well as a Multi Tier Support System (MTSS) instructional coach, Mrs. Carol Knasiak joins the high school staff of Fleetwood to serve as the new assistant principal.

“There were definitely challenges with [coming to a new school in the middle of the year] because I had been at my previous district for a long time, so I knew the ins and outs of how they do things, so learning a new school and new procedures, getting to know people–sometimes it’s hard coming in after somebody, especially if kids really had a good relationship with the previous person,” Knasiak said.

In order to prepare for the immense responsibility of serving as Assistant Principal, Knasiak said being involved with MTSS gave her several leadership opportunities, which helped her to develop skills she will be using as Assistant Principal. Some of the ways in which she developed these skills were through constant meetings with students in which behavior and academics were discussed, coordinating tutoring and general support for struggling students, and collaborating with teachers to help provide solutions to student issues.

Knasiak explained that this experience of not only supporting students but rather leading teams and programs to support students “kind of [felt] like being an assistant principal without handling discipline,” which helped to prepare her to move into an administrative position.

Before officially starting her new role, Knasiak attended a few school events. During the 2025-2026 school year homecoming events, Knasiak had the opportunity to gain familiarity with some students and teachers. Knasiak was also able to gain familiarity with the school grounds. Knasiak expressed excitement for the following year, as she will serve a full term.

“I missed a lot of the beginning of the year pieces, so I’m excited to be here next year to do the start to finish and kind of see all the summer planning that we’ll do, be a part of everything from the start, and from there just be able to help people,” Knasiak said.

Outside of the Fleetwood community, Knasiak finds joy in running and boxing; she has been a kickboxing instructor for “a long time.” Knasiak has also earned numerous medals for running by participating in both physical and online runs (where your pace is tracked and you receive a medal after submission).

Knasiak enjoys watching historical documentaries and is currently watching the show The Crown, a biographical and historical drama that follows the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from her marriage until the 2000s.

As she continues adjusting to her new role, Knasiak looks forward to experiencing a full school year at Fleetwood and continuing to grow more involved in the community. While entering the position midway through the year presented challenges, it allowed her to form relationships with students and staff while learning more about the school environment.

As the school year concludes, Knasiak expressed excitement about being part of future school events, traditions, and planning from the beginning of the year. By becoming more familiar with the students, staff, and overall culture of Fleetwood, Knasiak hopes to continue growing into the Fleetwood community.

With her background in leadership and collaboration, Knasiak looks forward to becoming an active part of the Fleetwood community.
