On 21 April 2022, three FAHS students signed their letters of intent. All students are going to different schools but are continuing their swimming careers.

The first swimmer, Maren Schermerhorn, committed to La Salle University and will be majoring in nursing. She has been swimming for twelve years.

When looking back at who motivated her the most in high school, her coach from Muhlenberg came to mind.

”My coach from Muhlenberg, coach Eisenhofer, really influenced me because, during hard practices, he would push us to our limit, which really helped me understand my body’s limits. He taught me a lot about swimming and myself,” Schermerhorn said.

Dylan Yellets is committing to Messiah college to study physical therapy. He will miss swimming with Fleetwood and Muhlenberg students.

The co-op with Muhlenberg has given Fleetwood swimmers a chance to meet different people and has made them better people and swimmers.

“Without the co-op, I do not think I would be at the point where I am today,” Yellets said.

Lauren Paules’s 12-year swimming career will continue at Washington University, where she will major in pre-veterinary medicine with a minor in biology.

As well as Schermerhorn, Lauren gives credit to her coaches for making her a better athlete. Overall, swimming has taught her hard work, dedication, and commitment.

Memories like overnight meets and girl’s team dance parties are what Paules will miss the most, but she is excited for new adventures in college.

“I am most looking forward to the swimming family that I will get to be a part of, as well as being able to do the sport I love for another four years. I am also excited about our yearly training trip to Key West after winter break,” Paules said.

All three student-athletes have bright futures in swimming and are being sent off by a proud Fleetwood and Muhlenberg program.
