The Fleetwood Area High School soccer team is red hot, without taking a single loss while leaving opponents in the dust.

According to MaxPreps Website, the team was ranked 15th in the state as of October 3. They were also ranked first in their division as well, 222nd out of the entire nation.  It doesn’t take long to see that the team is working on all cylinders.

“We have one of the best defenses in the league,” senior Ethan Kahler said.

Owen Shoemaker, another senior on the team, gave a similar response, saying “the defense is definitely the strength of this team.”

Fleetwood hopes that the old saying  ‘defense wins championships’ will prove to be the truth for them as they have high hopes.

Although the defense is fantastic, the offense shouldn’t be discredited. After watching the team for a couple of games, one quickly realizes that the offense just seems to know what each player is going to do, and that has, mostly, to do with the chemistry between the teammates.

“Our teamwork and team chemistry has a lot to do with the team’s success,” Kahler said.

“Our strength is that we all play as a team,” Shoemaker said.

Another component of the team’s strength is the players’ confidence. It can be seen when they are on and off the field.

“It was expected for us. County champs last year, and I think we are even better than that this year and will remain undefeated,” Kahler said.

Both Kahler and Shoemaker hope to help reach the State title game and bring home the championship for Fleetwood.  They certainly have the team to do it as well as the heart. With just a handful of games left in the season, they hope to remain undefeated and take down some good teams, including Conrad Wieser and Moravian Academy in their next two matchups.
